This past conference brought over 75 students from 18 different campuses from across the country.  I'd like thank everyone for attending, and for all of those that helped out with the conference!

Inheriting the tradition of Engineers for a Sustainable World (ESW) started in the year of 2003, University at Buffalo (UB) will be hosting the ESW National Conference this year.  It is our greatest pleasure to welcome you to join hundreds of student leaders, academics, and practitioners in Buffalo, New York this fall.

"Green Tech: Sustainable Cities in the 21st Century" will be the theme for this year’s conference.  Punctuating main theme “Green Tech” highlights the sole concept of ESW’s Vision: a world in which engineering fosters environmental, social and economic sustainability to improve both the quality of life and the condition of our planet; while the sub-theme emphasizes this year’s focus on the development of engineering for sustainability in an urban setting.  The University at Buffalo Chapter hopes this conference could once again re-energize the future generations’ passion for striving for a more sustainable environment for local, national, and global communities, and stimulate the enthusiasm and urgency necessary amongst the participants as young Green Tech leaders to even begin confronting the most pressing issues facing our planet.

The 2011 ESW National Conference will feature professionals from academia, government, and industry speaking on subjects such as sustainability in industries, sustainability on campus and in communities, sustainability in energy and natural resources field.  Participants are charged with broadening their perspectives - thinking outside of the box and outside of the classroom - to begin progressing towards innovative engineering solutions that address our grandest challenges.  ESW chapters will also be given the opportunity to showcase their ideas and experiences with innovation in sustainable design during the project poster session.  Representatives from our conference sponsors will be viewing the project posters and mingling with students as part of our networking event.

Weld the network, spark the creation.  Fertilize the earth with our sustainable solutions and let the Green thrive.

Welcome to the ESW National Conference 2011!
