Submission Process
A career fair will be held for sponsors and student participants as part of the ESW National Conference. This will be a “reverse career fair” where student conference participants can display the work they have done for ESW projects. This career fair will require all student teams to submit a poster of the project(s) they have worked on as part of ESW. The purpose of this format is to let companies go beyond resume bullets and gain an in depth look at what the students are capable of achieving. Additionally, students are allowed to sell companies on their accomplishments and project skills. Companies would be able to get to know job candidates by more than just a resume and identify how the job candidate’s skills are applied to an actual project. Lastly, this poster session will give ESW members from different chapters an opportunity to see projects from around the nation.
Only one poster will be required per project. This poster will represent all members of the project team, meaning that there can be multiple students per poster if applicable. During the first half of the reverse career fair students will stand next to their poster and have resumes on hand to distribute to company representatives. After lunch there will be time for employers to sit down with specific candidates for informal interviews. During this time student participants can also browse the posters from other chapters.
In addition to the reverse career fair, there will also be a poster session for non ESW affiliated projects. This will be at the same time as the reverse career fair and is an opportunity to share research and projects with other students and professionals in the area of sustainability. These posters will include graduate and professional projects or research. The focus of the projects or research should be related to the conference theme of innovation in sustainable design.
